Be a Hero...Save Your Customers From Their Energy Bills
Utility companies are offering great rebates for energy-efficient lighting
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, lighting consumes the highest amount of energy within a facility, accounting for 30 percent of a business’ total energy spend. Imagine how making minor adjustments to lighting systems would impact the total amount of energy your customer uses. Now may be the perfect time to offer some new solutions.
The Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Program promotes and encourages energy efficiency within buildings. The main goals of the program are to dramatically reduce the amount of energy consumed nationally, to protect the environment and to secure our energy for the future.
In conjunction with the program, most utility companies are offering energy rebate incentives to facilities upgrading to more energy-efficient lighting. Fluorescents are a smart option as they can offer approximately 75 percent in energy savings and up to $125 per fixture from utility rebates.
In some cases, the value of the rebate program offsets the labor cost of retrofitting current fixtures, resulting in payback in as little as 16 months. Additionally, the 2005 Energy Policy Act may allow for tax deductions on energy efficient lighting upgrades. For more information on the rebate incentives in your area, visit www.dsireusa.org.
