HN Series Helps You Meet Fire Codes with Ease

When installing indoor linear fluorescent light fixtures larger than 24 inches wide, you must follow strict codes enforced by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). For Instance, the NFPA restricts the amount of space allowed between larger fixtures and sprinkler systems. Although these codes promote safety, they may force you to take a second look at the products you choose for a project to insure they are up-to-code.

Which HN Series fixture is best for you?
There are two types of HN Series fixtures— silver reflector and white reflector. The fixture you use will depend on your project. For example, the silver reflector HN series fixtures provide narrow distribution, ideal for lighting aisles and narrow paths. The light is asymmetric, clear and concise. The fixtures are usually mounted at a height of 30 feet or higher.

The white reflector version of the HN Series has a more systematic and broader light distribution. These fixtures are ideal for more open areas with symmetric spacing and lower ceiling height (25 feet or less). Essentially, the white fixtures are similar to a low bay light.

Some contractors assume that the white fixtures have low optical efficiency. This is not true. Both fixtures are actually over 90 percent efficient. The silver reflector is 99.3 percent efficient while the white reflector is 94.2 percent efficient.

So when considering the HN Series, remember that in addition to its convenient 24-inch size, each model is designed for specific lighting requirements. If you have a high mounting height and want to illuminate a pathway, choose the silver HN Series. For a broader area of coverage and lower mounting height, try the white HN Series.
